Vice President Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance | Location: Illinois
Our client, a mid-cap, aggressively growing, global leader in the healthcare industry with a broad portfolio of medical device, durable medical equipment and diagnostics, had received several 483’s by the FDA. The leadership’s commitment to Quality and Operational Excellence drove the decision to confidentially replace the VP Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance North America. There was the greatest of urgency to get the right leader on board to drive a new corporate culture of continuous improvements throughout the global organization.

We identified a passionate, dynamic, and knowledgeable executive with a solid track record of turning around medical device companies that had a history of poor regulatory and quality compliance. He committed to the relocation and was on board 4 weeks after our presentation to the client.

Vice President Global Early Stage Biologics Development | Location: Maryland

After a difficult integration of a biotech acquisition where key executives left, a global generic pharmaceutical company needed an R & D leader with significant experience in early stage biologics development to stop the exodus of critical talent, refocus the strategy, revitalize the cross-cultural teams, and build bridges with other global biologics R & D sites.

A highly respected industry executive that hit the bulls-eye was identified within 2 weeks. The challenge was closing the deal due to significant differences in compensation package expectations and timeframes for start dates. Our client heard our advice and elevated the position and responsibilities which greatly appealed to the candidate thereby motivating him to accept a lower overall compensation package than he currently had. We also were able to keep both parties engaged while working through some very challenging obstacles that delayed on-boarding due to non-compete issues.

Vice President Human Resources | Location: Virginia
A privately held biotech, emerging from stealth mode, identified the need to hire a VP HR who could be a strategic business partner that they would not “outgrow” based on the future growth objectives of the company. The challenge was finding someone who would relocate to a small town very far from biotech hubs.

The search quickly narrowed to two seasoned HR biotech executives who were change agents with a lot of valuable experience in strategic human resources planning, executive/international compensation, organization development, team building, and employee retention/recognition programs. Due to our ability to attract and sell the candidate on the opportunity, our client was able to land an industry veteran who would be willing to take the risk on the upside potential and sacrifice initially his accustomed level of cash compensation.

Executive Vice President, Global Biotech company | Location: Massachusetts
We were retained to attract a talented Executive Vice President to drive the turnaround of the company’s smallest division whose revenues were in decline. The problems were compounded by leadership turnover and a reputation sullied by lawsuits. With two final candidates identified within four weeks, the leader with the strongest “fit” was chosen for his charisma and determination. Following a smooth relocation from the West Coast, the incoming EVP successfully re-established goals and stabilized the team in the first three months. The troubled division’s revenues tripled over the next three years
Chief Medical Officer, VC-backed Biotech | Location: North Carolina
We were introduced by the Board to conduct this search for the company’s first Chief Medical Officer. As the offer and acceptance unfolded, the candidate was put under extreme pressure to step up into the CEO role with his current employer. Anticipating the potential for this, expectations had been laid out and the client and the candidate were open to working through an extended transition process. The candidate continued to be available for consultation with his former employer over the course of three months; during this time he also began the on-boarding process and was able to have a positive impact on clinical development with our client.
Director Business Development, Diagnostics | Location: Maine
This search required a unique and compelling search strategy due to the location and the non-traditional organizational structure; this Business Development position reporting to the General Counsel.

An offer was extended to the primary candidate; this was a complex process due to the candidate’s religious beliefs; there are no Hindu temples in Maine!

We worked closely with the hiring manager and HR business partner to build a comprehensive plan including a dinner meeting with one of the client’s Corporate Officers and his wife who had similar circumstances. We also provided introductions to local associations and additional resources to support the candidate and his family in their assimilation. As a result, our client landed the candidate and the relocation process from Maryland to Maine was smooth.

Head of Marketing, Clinical Information Systems (CIS) | Location: Utah
Following the acquisition of an entrepreneurial company to strengthen their presence in Health Information Systems (HIS), the parent company needed to bolster Marketing expertise to lead a global adoption and advancement of the CIS suite of products. The challenge was to attract an experienced Marketing leader with deep expertise in HIS and CIS. At the time of launching the search, this position had been open for over 6 months and the company’s growth plans were being hampered.

We targeted the dominant players in this emerging field and quickly identified a slate of three finalists, all willing to relocate to Salt Lake City. Two were brought through the full interview process, and either was deemed to be an excellent potential hire. At offer stage, the parent company shifted the level of responsibilities and as a result one of the finalists withdrew. The other lead candidate was hired, moved his family from Arizona, and came on board within 3 weeks of accepting the offer.
